Money and the Internet – A Brief Introduction

The internet is a world-wide phenomenon. Take a few minutes to think about the internet and how billions of people use it everyday. People use the internet for social networking, email communication, video and even verbal communication, watching videos, films, listening to radio, broadcasting themselves to the world, obtaining fame, images, music, information and even global news. There are endless possibilities when it comes to the internet.

So what does it all come down to?

What is the reason for these millions of pages with all their fascinating functions? One word. Money.

The internet is the single largest money- making resource in global history.

Let’s take a look at how money is involved in the internet using this simple example.

Consider this. If Bob decides to create his own website for any reason, he must first purchase a domain name. He must then pay a website designer to design and create the website for him. He may need to employ people to write articles for him. He may want the website to be updated regularly and need to employ an administrator or if it is a site that requires frequent maintenance and updates he may need to employ multiple administrators. He may need to pay for the advertising and promotion of his website. He may choose to advertise other products for other companies on his website meaning that he himself will be getting paid through them…

Companies PAY for advertising. Think of all the millions and millions of adverts you see on the internet every day. The advert is not just conveniently placed there, the company is PAYING for it to be displayed. Now it may seem like common sense that companies have to pay for advertising, but if you consider for a moment just how widely advertising is used on the internet, you begin to see just how much of a money making machine the internet is. And it is easier than you think, to harness this money making power.

The time is now! If you look at your life and how you use the internet, you may wonder how you ever did without it! Yet cast your mind back 15 years and the amount the internet was used was only a tiny fraction of what it is now. The internet has become so popular that there is barely anybody who does not use it anymore. This is because people are learning more and more about it every day. The more you learn about how the internet works, the more it will become clear to you that all the time you have had a computer with an internet connection, you have been sitting at a goldmine! If only you had known the keys to accessing that goldmine.
